Watercolor Fresh & Loose: Paint with Confidence!

Sept 26-October 1, 2021 (Four Teaching Days)

Recharge your creative batteries in a nurturing environment of fun and learning. Do you need to loosen up with expressive brushwork? Do you need inspiration? Blocks of time to paint? Expand your skillset? A supportive instructor for individual help? If the answer is yes, then treat yourself to a creative week of personal art-making. Surrounded by the beauty of the lake and north woods, it’s the perfect getaway for mind, spirit and brush.

Mornings will include "how-to" demonstrations using great watercolor Master Artist techniques as inspiration. These demos are hands-on: you’ll apply them immediately. Included: gorgeous wet-in-wet with Turner, brilliant color with Van Gogh, intense florals with O’Keeffe, bold and brilliant brushwork from John Singer Sargent. Other key watercolor techniques include transparent washes, color mixing, avoiding “mud” and getting clean, fresh, color, and loose brush work. You’ll make the Masters’ art personal and enjoy the journey.

Afternoons are for your own quiet painting time, with one-on-one guidance from Jane, at your own pace. Each afternoon session ends with an inspirational or instructional DVD. Jane is skilled at uncovering and playing to your strengths. You'll also have fun and enjoy the camaraderie of kindred spirits.

2021 COVID Precautions

It is impossible to assess the impact, if any, of COVID-19 for the upcoming 2021 season, but all artists should be prepared to abide by the following measures while attending workshops.

  1. Participants must fill out a quick health questionnaire to make sure they do not exhibit any symptoms.
  2. Masks are required to be worn while in classrooms and shared spaces.
  3. Participants must also wash hands or use hand sanitizer at the beginning of each class and often during class sessions.
  4. Participants are required to stay 6 feet apart for social distancing protocols.

A floor plan per each of our three studios has been created to ensure that the artist tables and lecture area will allow people to socially distance themselves a minimum of 6 feet.
In lieu of crowding around the artist during demos, a desktop camera system and large format digital TV screens have been installed in each of the studios to allow students a close up view of demos.
We will be providing students with hand-sanitizer at their work stations. In addition, the studios will be closed for 1 hour in the late evenings for a daily UV sanitation and touch surface cleaning.
