You are invited to get a taste of Dillman's with a 3 hour demo by David R. Becker the day before his The Most Important Watermedia Workshop (teaching days August 29-Sept 3). The demo is ideal for local artists looking to dip their toes in taking an acrylic workshop at Dillman's.

The demo costs $30 (9:00AM - 12:00PM) and includes a 300# watercolor piece of paper for you to use. Minimum of 15 people. You are invited to stay and paint in the studio on your own for an additional $15 (12:00PM - 4:00PM). Pack a lunch on your own, or call ahead to order a box lunch. Make an evening out of it and enjoy our Wine and Appetizer Reception $11 (5-6:00PM) and Buffet Dinner $25 (6-7:30PM).

David loves to teach his students everything he knows about working with watercolor in this demonstration. The painting will be of the sun setting at Dillman's on White Sand's lake and he
will be teaching students all the aspects of watercolor from beginning to end and everything in-between... including how to get a strong burning light into this scene and how to reflect the sun
into a wavy rippled lake. He will also get into reflections and waves when painting them into a scene. David has some new supplies that you will be surprised can be used in the watercolor

Since 1979, David has spent all of his artistic life and career in the city of Chicago. Becker studied at American Academy of Art in Chicago, and is the reason that a large majority of his subject matter comes from his life here in the city that he loves so much. After studying at The American Academy of Art in Chicago, Becker went into illustrating for a major advertising agency J. Walter Thompson and later for Foote Cone and Belding. He also started teaching around the country, right out of school, but always found time for his favorite ambition, creating fine art paintings. David is the author of Watercolor Composition Made Easy, and How to Sketch with Watercolor. He has had two different articles published in International Artist Magazine and in Watercolor Magic. Has reached signature status to the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and has won numerous awards for his work from watercolor societies around the country.

Becker’s works in many mediums, including watercolors, oils and acrylics, he is mostly recognized for his watercolor scenes of Chicago. You can find may of his works hanging in homes and businesses throughout Chicago. David’s favorite painting was commissioned by Starbucks to do a scene for their Macy’s Starbucks store that was to included a scene looking out of that stores window, unto Wabash, that included the “L” platform. This painting can be seen at the Northeast corner of the Macy’s Starbucks store on Randolph and Wabash, and at the same time have a great cup of coffee while viewing this Becker original.
