Needle felted art/wool art, is such an emerging art form and is exploding in popularity! A photograph just doesn’t capture the texture, the depth or the character of the piece, but if you see a landscape felted piece in person, you fall in love! In this class you will learn everything you need to know to create a felted sunset/sunrise landscape. No previous experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and have fun! We will learn the basic characteristics of wool and how to turn it into felt using a wet felting and needle felting method. We will then go into the basic composition of a landscape and the particulars of laying out your design.
Anna is one of the new artists who are leading the way for this emerging art form and is teaching workshops throughout the midwest and in Texas. She tells her story saying, “Before I made felted pieces, I did all kinds of other paintings, such as oil, acrylic, water colors and anything I could get my hands on in order to release that inner drive to create! Then one day I just quit. It was too frustrating to paint and take care of 10 children, train dogs, and keep up the farm and house. Years later, I sold a trained Border Collie to a fiber artist, who in turn, trained me to make a purse from wool. I wondered if I could add colored wool during the processes of making a purse in order to create a picture on it. I gave it a shot. It turned out so well, someone wanted to buy it and I kept making more!! Then one day someone said, “This is too pretty to use, I’m just going to hang it on my wall!” DING, DING! The lights went off and that settled it for me, I’d much rather make a pretty picture than a purse! I set out to make the most extraordinary, brilliant wall hangings, for the distinguished art collector. It turns out I’m not the only one to fall in love with this form of artistic expression. I just keep creating, teaching and learning new things as I delve more and more into this amazing fiber world and the response has always been so amazing. Everyone who sees a felted picture for the first time are awestruck at the CHARACTER a picture can have and absolutely love it!”

2021 COVID Precautions
It is impossible to assess the impact, if any, of COVID-19 for the upcoming 2021 season, but all artists should be prepared to abide by the following measures while attending workshops.
- Participants must fill out a quick health questionnaire to make sure they do not exhibit any symptoms.
- Masks are required to be worn while in classrooms and shared spaces.
- Participants must also wash hands or use hand sanitizer at the beginning of each class and often during class sessions.
- Participants are required to stay 6 feet apart for social distancing protocols.
A floor plan per each of our three studios has been created to ensure that the artist tables and lecture area will allow people to socially distance themselves a minimum of 6 feet.
In lieu of crowding around the artist during demos, a desktop camera system and large format digital TV screens have been installed in each of the studios to allow students a close up view of demos.
We will be providing students with hand-sanitizer at their work stations. In addition, the studios will be closed for 1 hour in the late evenings for a daily UV sanitation and touch surface cleaning.
