Mixed media paintings you can touch! Explore the versatility of acrylics– from coarse and gritty textured surfaces to smooth and transparent layers of gels. Be inspired by natural surfaces of the Wisconsin woods: rough tree bark, lacy leaves, shimmering water and build a vocabulary of wood grains and patinas to use in both figurative and abstract work. Class will cover: encaustic effects, painting on crackle paste, using interference and metallic paints for shimmer, pouring, impasto painting and more! You will also work on a variety of surfaces: paper, canvas, wood, aluminum, and plexiglass. This class is both materials and techniques oriented: great for beginners to learn foundation skills and for more advance painters to work in new ways with new materials.
Sandra "Sandie" Bacon is a versatile artist whose work explores many mediums. With a classical education and background in life drawing/painting, she also challenges herself to work with murals, collaborative sculptures and more. Her artwork is shown nationally and is in many corporate collections including the Coyne Collection, William Blair Foundation, Clinton Foundation and the Chicago Department of the Environment. For the past three years she has shown at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, Michigan and in Miami during Art Basel. She is the Golden Working Artist for Illinois and Wisconsin and lectures/teaches workshops to art groups, universities and art stores. She is also co-creating giant painted birds for the Chicago Tree Project and painting stage sets for the premier of "Scrooge and the Ghostly Spirits."
This is a Studio Only Workshop.

PAL’s (Participants at large) can vacation at Dillman’s for $45 per night for accommodations. Costs for box lunches and dinners are additional.
