Mary Beth is an artist and art instructor who began studying fine art in 1975. She pursued her Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree with a focus in painting and drawing at the University of Minnesota, Duluth and graduated with honors in 1994. For the past 25 years, she has taught six classes per week at her studio, The Art Cellar, in Duluth, Minnesota, gives presentations to local organizations, and conducts watercolor workshops.
"I have the ability to teach art to students who think they are "unteachable." My students,
over the last 25 years, have advanced from stick figure drawings to having their
work accepted in national shows. Some have been motivated to go back for their degree in
art. My energy for continued education and creativity is contagious" - Mary Beth Downs
