David Lobenberg

California Vibe Watercolor Portraiture™

September 27-October 2, 2020 (Four Teaching Days)

Absolutely no drawing experience necessary! Using in-your-face (pun intended) dramatic, stylistic reference photos with camera, pad, or phone students will learn how to utilize a simple technique to trace head and facial features from the photo and easily transfer it to watercolor paper. David will demonstrate how to mix expressive colors and apply with a big brush, minimize and pare down painting strokes to render an expressive portrait, and how to work with a minimal palette to create maximum visual impact. At the conclusion of the workshop, students will have the where-with-all to follow their own path towards creating colorful, expressive, out-of-the-paint box portraits!
