Lois’ workshop focuses on capturing color and light by gaining insight into the foundations of Impressionism. By using rich and vibrant color, you will learn how to see and paint the beautiful light effects of nature. The Impressionist theory will be combined with emphasis on the important principles for successful paintings. Each morning and afternoon class begins with demos to explain what to look for and how to proceed. Each consecutive class is based on what has been previously covered; carefully building from each lesson to make the learning curve easier and concise. This workshop is informal and fun, but be prepared to learn a lot and work hard too!
Lois was honored by the American Impressionist Society as a Master Signature Artist. She is one of only a handful of artists to sign “AISM” after her signature. Her book, Painting the Impressionist Landscape was published over 25 years ago by Watson-Guptill and is considered an exemplary source on seeing color and light. It has been translated into four languages including Chinese. Her second book, Painting Impressionist Color embellishes the lessons in the first book, while presenting many important new concepts. Lois’ paintings have twice graced the cover of American Artist Magazine and many others. She was also featured in The Artist’s Magazine, The Boston Globe, American Art Review and the New York Times. Lois has taught painting workshops throughout the United States and Europe and has had many sold out shows in New England.

2021 COVID Precautions
It is impossible to assess the impact, if any, of COVID-19 for the upcoming 2021 season, but all artists should be prepared to abide by the following measures while attending workshops.
- Participants must fill out a quick health questionnaire to make sure they do not exhibit any symptoms.
- Masks are required to be worn while in classrooms and shared spaces.
- Participants must also wash hands or use hand sanitizer at the beginning of each class and often during class sessions.
- Participants are required to stay 6 feet apart for social distancing protocols.
A floor plan per each of our three studios has been created to ensure that the artist tables and lecture area will allow people to socially distance themselves a minimum of 6 feet.
In lieu of crowding around the artist during demos, a desktop camera system and large format digital TV screens have been installed in each of the studios to allow students a close up view of demos.
We will be providing students with hand-sanitizer at their work stations. In addition, the studios will be closed for 1 hour in the late evenings for a daily UV sanitation and touch surface cleaning.
