Paintings you can touch! Explore the versatility of acrylics– from coarse and gritty textured surfaces to smooth and transparent layers of gels. We will be inspired by natural surfaces
of the Wisconsin woods: rough tree bark, lacy leaves, shimmering water and build a vocabulary of wood grains and patinas to use in both figurative and abstract work.
We will cover: encaustic effects, painting on crackle paste, using interference and metallic paints for shimmer, pouring, impasto painting and more!!!! We also work on a variety of supports: paper, canvas, wood, aluminum, and plexiglass.
This class is both materials and techniques oriented: great for beginners to learn foundation skills and for more advance painters to work in new ways with new materials.
