Seasoned artists and teachers will tell you that their biggest breakthrough came when they began applying color and design concepts into their paintings. Early in our painting life we all struggle to copy nature as we see it. Painting becomes a lot of work with little reward, what’s missing is an understanding of color and design. Color and design concepts are logical, learnable and once you have them they’ll be evident in every painting you paint.
You’re encouraged to bring along sketches or photos of your favorite subject matter, flowers, figures, boats, city streets or country scenes. Each day Don will show you how to boil down any subject to a simple, exciting watercolor statement; no stress, no fear, lots of demos, laughs and personal guidance.
- Discover how creating color harmony will guarantee delightful color and neutrals that make any subject matter sing.
- Focuses on lighting your subject for maximum visual effect. It’s the most important element in art.
- Learn how to loosen up. This is the class everyone needs to make a watercolor with more “you” in it.
Each day Don will show you how to boil down your subject to a simple, exciting watercolor statement. Expect a fun, no pressure studio environment with lots of demos and personal guidance.
