Bonnie uses melted paraffin wax and Ginwashi rice paper with watercolor paints. The paraffin wax is used to protect the white and light colors on the rice paper, building up layers of paint and wax until all of the rice paper is covered. After finishing this process, you iron of the wax off with an iron between layers of newspaper. What is so wonderful about this technique is you never know how your painting will turn out? The ending will surprise you at how beautiful your painting is.
Bonnie has a unique ability to lure you into the painting with the use of beautiful warm and cool colors. She loves to create paintings that make you feel good, and it cretainly shows. You will find her beautiful floral paintings are displayed in several galleries and her collectors come from all over to purchase her work. Bonnie spends much of her time traveling and teaching workshops as well as collecting references for new paintings. You can find her teaching at Sea Horse Arts and Crafts store in Orlando, FL, a well as her home studio in Orange City, Fl. Bonnie was born and grew up on the Golden Isles of Georgia. Her love for nature has inspired her to paint in watercolors. While Bonnie is mostly self taught she has studied under several well known artists, as well as attending Crealde School of Art in Winter Park, Florida.
