Realism in Oil with Gesso Textures - A Non Toxic Process
Aug 27-Sept 1, 2017 (Four Teaching Days)
Returning for the 8th year in 2017
Learn how to paint oils in a non-toxic process. No solvents will be used for a smell free classroom. Arleta will walk you step by step with no drawing required. You will learn how to use transparent and opaque passages for an exciting still life set up, with a variety of surface texture and shine. Arleta will show you how to create a strong composition and then walk you through the class, painting step by step. You will transfer a drawing supplied (shown at right and on the supply list) by Arleta so it's all about painting. Arleta's goal is to engage the viewer on three levels: artistically, emotionally, and intellectually. This class is perfect for watercolor artists who want to try oils.
Arleta is recognized as a leading painter of realism. She captures her favorite subjects with a careful blending of high technical skill and a deep aesthetic appreciation for their inherent beauty. Arleta will supply oil paint for the class and walnut oil mediums for a small fee of $10. You only need a 12x24 Gessobord and brushes.
Realism artist Arleta Pech was raised as the only child in a farming family of limited means. Art exposure came not from museums or art schools, but from paper, paint, and crayons. She could draw anything she saw, and worked as a commercial artist right out of high school. After a trip to the National Gallery, she found her calling as a realist, standing before "Fruit, Fish and Nest" by Dutch Baroque artist Abraham Mignon. She quickly became acclaimed for her still life paintings in which realism is presented within the symmetry of Classicism.
Arleta began her fine art painting career with a local organization in Colorado. She entered the limited edition print market in 1989 signing with Mill Pond press, followed by the release of 40 editions thru 2000. Hadley House now represents her images for reproduction. Arleta’s work has been in selected invitations such as the John Pence Gallery in San Francisco, The Museum tour of Birds In Art for the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, 2004 and 2005. Arleta has also been included in the archives of The National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
Show credits include; International Realism Guild, OPA Western Region, The Best of Realism at Winstanly-Roarke Gallery, International Guild of Realism Exhibition at The Manitou Gallery, Realism Today Show at the John Pence Gallery in San Francisco, Birds In Art museum tour in 2004 and 2005 for the Woodson Art Museum.
Publications on her work have been in Australian Artist Magazine, The Artist Magazine, and the American Artists Magazine and most recently International Artist Magazine. She is also the author of “Radiant Oils” released in 2009, as well as “Painting Fresh Florals in Watercolor” released in 1998, selling out and a paperback version in 2003.
