In this workshop you will learn to use color to achieve a lively, glowing effect in your paintings. By keeping palette mixing to a minimum and applying other simple but effective tricks, you will create sparking passages of color that attracts the viewer’s eye, encourages imagination and makes your paintings sing. Rose focuses on design, value and color in her paintings. Her subjects come from all over the world. Some are painted on location and others are studio paintings. Color has become her mantra, as she continues to use pure color and lets the color run together to create layers of pure color directly on the paper. Her intent is to draw the viewer into the painting with the light as well as with dramatic color.
A typical day consists of several demonstrations with adequate time for students to practice and paint on their own. Each student is given individual assistance as needed or requested. The day culminates with a critique where individual paintings are shown and positive criticism is given.
