Andy Evansen

Simplifying Watercolor

Sept 11-16, 2016 (Four Teaching Days)

Andy’s workshop will focus on simplifying your paintings by concentrating on large shapes. Too often watercolors fail to incorporate lost edges and take advantage of the inherent ‘looseness’ of the medium.  Our brains are trained to see separations instead of the obvious possibilities for connections and large shapes, thus the tendency toward hard edges and the little white gaps that break up a painting. Andy will demonstrate every day, and we’ll begin by focusing on value studies and move toward color paintings, covering all aspects of the landscape.
